2.3 Microsoft Word
Microsoft Word is a trickier proposition, because of the underlying code in a Word file that you don’t normally see. The best procedure is probably to use an XML editor that can convert Word to XML, or you can convert the Word file first to plain text by simply saving it as plain text. You can always try saving the file as Word’s own version of XML, but this is often verbose and needs quite a lot of processing after your conversion.
